Apple trees

Despite the surprisingly warm weather in September (hello, global warming!), the trees are an undeniable reminder that indeed Summer is coming to an end. This also means that winter is just around the corner, but that’s a topic for another day.

Although I’m not done with summer posts, today I feel like keeping it simple and talking about nice people and apples.

It can’t be denied, that autumn is in the air and the constant falling leaves despite the +20° weather are proof of it. This also means that apple trees are full and ready for us to start baking and getting creative with recipes.

Now, keep in mind that I live in an apartment building, therefore I don’t have a yard (although sometimes I dream of having one as nice as my cousin Ale – Saludos to the family if you’re reading this! 😘); but my neighborhood has several houses with more than one tree. And the coolest part? When they have too many, they just leave buckets outside for people to take!

Here’s some evidence:

Isn’t that nice? Haha, I personally love it.

So when my dear friend Alaa invited me to her home to bake and asked for ideas, I thought about these apples!

That’s why today after breakfast, I decided to stroll around the neighborhood with my husband with apple “shopping” in mind.

Luckily it didn’t take long before we encountered the first bag and I got probably more excited than I should have, but hey, mission accomplished!

Not much longer after that, I headed to my friend’s house (kiitos for hosting, Alaa! 🥰) and spent the afternoon chatting, laughing, baking, meeting a new friend, and eating the delicious final result:

Although I’m in no rush for summer to end, I just love seeing the trees full of apples, it makes me wanna watch Gilmore Girls and cozy up under a blanket!

But despite the leaves already starting to turn yellow and falling from the trees, summer is not over yet! I’m gonna soak up as much sun and lake days as I can.

Would you like to know more about the Finnish summer / Summer activities?

Let me know! I’d love to read about it.

In the meantime, thank you for reading!

See you next week 💌
